Planner-Buyer

Objective:

This position will be responsible for managing the plant's direct suppliers and the supply of critical materials. This individual will ensure our suppliers' materials meet our quality expectations and are delivered in a timely manner supporting production and new product launch requirements 

Responsibilities:

• Establish strategies to improve supply chain, solve shortage issues and strengthen supplier relationships
• Understand and apply MRP reports in ordering parts used in production to ensure appropriate quantity is procured to meet delivery dates
• Obtain materials, components and equipment as required to meet the production schedule.  Responsible for expediting orders as necessary.  Identify actual and potential delivery problems and take proactive steps to inform appropriate personnel
• Monitor costs of purchased materials.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers to direct and procure supplier technical and operating expertise as required by internal customer
• Complete special assignments for the Materials Department as directed
• Work with engineering on new product introductions including early supplier involvement
• Execute vendor Performance scorecards.

Desired Background:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Operations

• Minimum 1 years’ experience in procurement

Required Skills: 

• Experience in procurement/purchasing/sourcing in a manufacturing environment     
• Must have the ability to communicate (both written and verbally) with all levels within the organization
• Proficient to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; Microsoft Access skills a plus
• Critical thinker
• Experience with ERP systems and planning software, preferably SAP.
