Quality Control Lead

POSITION OVERVIEW/DUTIES:

The Quality Assurance & Cycle Count Lead is an essential member of the manufacturing team. This position will be a pivotal leader for enforcing product quality control standards, ensuring accurate inventory levels (by leading cycle counts for the facility), and striving for a lean and continuously improving culture. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Acts as department leader by understanding all dimensions & expectations of quality control & cycle counting standards within the facility
  • Serves as champion & coach of quality, inventory, Lean, and process improvements to promote a continuous learning environment
  • Supports Quality & Engineering, Production, and Plant Managers to help employ strategic & operational objectives, assessing the current processes performed among functional areas
  • Oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of doors, frames, materials, parts, and other products to ensure adherence to established quality standards
  • Establishes & refines inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process
  • Exhibits a “customer first” mentality, striving to eliminate & prevent future quality issues within the facility to not only drive up customer satisfaction but also mitigate rework and cost
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the quality control process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of collaboration within and between departments
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures supporting dormakaba’s safety culture and efforts through ergonomic process improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant & Production Manager to support corporate goals

            

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; able to communicate across multiple levels of management, departments, and customers
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Understanding of quality standards, and how to implement them in a manufacturing setting
  • Lead in analyzing problems and in collaboration for appropriate solutions
  • Able to overcome obstacles and encounter the unexpected and continue moving forward
  • Able to use practical knowledge to solve a variety of production-related issues
  • Skills or experience with personal computers, including E-mail, personal scheduling, and Microsoft Office
  • Able to use a wide range of measurement instruments measuring tape, calipers, etc
  • Manual dexterity and mobility enough to extensively, safely and productively use hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, small grinders, welding stingers, and similar fabrication shop equipment
  • Enough mobility to allow the employee to work in restricted or out of normal positions
  • Able to maneuver on the shop floor and outdoors
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively during a shift

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Degree/GED or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of experience in Quality Inspection in a manufacturing setting

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Associates degree in Manufacturing/Operations
