POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking Machinists to join our Manufacturing team in Indianapolis! This position is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and assembling metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $23.00 - $33.00 (Pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) dormakaba is seeking to hire Machinists in the following classifications:

Machinist II – Mid-Level - May also provide training to lower - level machinists. May require 1-3 years of related experience.

Machinist III - Experienced Level - Has gained mastery skills in multiple competencies relevant to the job. May require 4+ years of related experience.

 

Machines may include but not limited to:

  • Auto Combinating
  • Auto Key
  • CNC
  • Finishing
  • Paint & Powder
  • Plating
  • Punch Press/Stamping
  • Single or Multi Spindle Screw Machine
  • Rotary Transfer

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Operates machine according to standard operating instructions
  • Operates machine(s) safely & communicates any problems which arises to the supervisor/lead person
  • Performs machine setups, tool changes, and makes adjustments as necessary
  • Monitors, maintains, weighs, and safely adds chemicals as required
  • Performs minor troubleshooting and PM of the equipment
  • Meets production standards as sets by department goals
  • Understands work orders and routings and recommends changes as needed
  • Performs duties and responsibilities as described in the quality system
  • Monitors the quality of work per Quality Assurance Inspection Procedure (QAIP)
  • Trains and develops entry level machinists
  • Follows all environmental, health, & safety (EHS) policies & procedures including uses of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Daily 5S/housekeeping

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive experience operating, setups, tool changes, etc.
  • Manufacturing education/training preferred

  • An understanding in the application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and similar quality control concepts is preferred
  • Lean skills preferred
  • Computer proficient preferred
  • Setting of Dies preferred
