POSITION OVERVIEW
dormakaba is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be a part of the new product design team in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible for involve utilizing your broad experience with manufacturing processes and practices to help drive designs and successfully meet project goals and commitments.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Works independently and as a project team member through the project phases of an NPD project
- Assists the Project Manager and Product Manager in project justification, planning, and execution activities
- Leads all aspects of engineering design for projects/products through team collaboration, persuasion, or hands on task execution
- Monitors and reports project status- developing contingency plans to assure that product development tasks are completed within time and budget constraints
- Ensures all project and engineering documentation is properly recorded and archived using engineering due diligence and existing company policies and procedures
- Participates with, and support cross-functional teamwork with electrical, software and manufacturing engineers in the integrating of mechanical and electronic hardware with software for electromechanical product designs
- Creates and analyzes design concepts and detailed designs to assure compliance with product requirements, design specifications and applicable standards
- Creates and reviews test plans, test procedures, and test results to verify compliance with product requirements and quality standards
- Lends technical and analytical expertise to aid in the analysis and refinement of product design concepts
- Performs calculations/use computer analysis software to develop, analyze, and refine product models and design concepts
- Researches modern design and development tools, processes, and methods that are applicable to current or future Dormakaba products
- Provides technical support and mentoring to coworkers on engineering tools and processes
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
- Applicable knowledge of electro-mechanics and electronics packaging
- Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-1994)
- Ability to perform DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and C&E analyses
- High level proficiency in 3D CAD modeling & detailing, Creo
- Working knowledge of CAD Data Management systems, Windchill
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
- Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
- Ability to solve complex problems using proven engineering methods
- Ability to be detail focused and accountable
