Planner/Scheduler

POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Planner/Scheduler to join our Operations team at our Indianapolis, IN facility! We are seeking someone who can support daily production operations by securing an optimum supply of material required for manufacturing to meet customer demand. This person will be responsible for being a change agent in order to sustain the organization’s current performance and achieve success in its future performance.

 

 

Primary Duties:

  • Assures the continuous supply and timely delivery of production materials
  • Schedule and release shipments for open purchase orders, work orders, consigned inventory, and kanbans
  • Ensures supply plan supports demand plan and inventory targets based on maintaining accuracy of all planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock)
  • Monitors supplier capacity against incoming customer orders and forecasts
  • Handles spot quality issues dealing with on-time delivery, non-conforming shipments, and Supplier Corrective Action reports
  • Coordinates supplier/product lead times
  • Coordinates with the traffic department for expedited, re-consigned, or diverted shipments based on production schedule changes/outages
  • Communicates interdepartmentally with respect to lead-time on material or products, and to expedite order placement
  • Manages daily business relationships with approved suppliers and write purchase orders with approved suppliers as necessary
  • Keep supervisors informed of schedule requirements; modify schedule as needed to meet customer requirements

 

 

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems and S&Op processes
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience in production scheduling or purchasing
  • APIC’s training preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of MRP
  • Skills or experience with personal computers, including electronic E-mail, personal scheduling, word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to self-start and work without close supervision, understanding what needs to be done and taking the required actions to maintain production
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent priority management, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Sound judgment, reasoning, and analytical skills necessary to accomplish position responsibilities
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the production flow and processes
  • Must have a working knowledge of inventory control and scheduling
  • Strong analytical skillset with operations research tools
