POSITION OVERVIEW:

dormakaba is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Operations team at our Indianapolis, IN facility. This position will be responsible for improving Product and Process Quality while engaging Engineering, Suppliers, and Manufacturing to ensure various processes produce a high-quality outcome.  This individual will lead product, process, and supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions to ensure ISO / customer requirements are consistently met.  This role will have concentration with electro-mechanical lock manufacturing and assembly. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Develops and Implements Lean Quality Assurance Processes and Controls in Production
  • Develops and Implements ISO Compliant Quality Systems, Procedures, and Data Systems in support of QMS supervisor
  • Develops and Implements Lean Quality Assurance Processes and Controls in Production
  • Develops and Implements Continuous Improvement/ Corrective Action Processes and Controls
  • Develops and Implements Supplier Quality Management Processes that drive suppliers towards on-time delivery with zero defects
  • Serves as a technical resource to Product Development Engineers during the creation of design specifications, DFM’s, DFA’s, PFMEA’s, and Control Plans.  Support the transfer and launch of new products / product changes from design to production
  • Implements lean process control methods that measure, evaluate, and drive fast-response to improving product & process quality
  • Oversees and/or performs gauge design for new or revised parts for Manufacturing as needed.  Ensure the measurement systems are appropriate for their applications and that gauges are replaced or repaired as necessary
  • Provide support to Manufacturing and Assembly departments when product or process problems arise.  Perform root cause analysis to identify and document the causes and corrective actions for quality problems.
  • Serve as a technical resource and manufacturing liaison to Supply Management to drive supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
  • Perform internal audits and other responsibilities as described in the quality system

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Science, or like experience
  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or process environment preferred
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
  • Skills or experience with Microsoft Office Tools (i.e., Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong Problem-solving skills (6 Sigma / Shainin Techniques)
  • Electrical / Mechanical Process Quality Engineering experience
  • Experience in transferring new products from design to production
  • Blueprint reading, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Statistical tools, including but not limited to: SPC, process capability analysis, DOE
  • Knowledge and experience with implementing process / assembly error-proofing techniques
  • Working knowledge of SAP systems preferred
  • Measurement fundamentals and previous gauge design experience preferred
  • Six Sigma or Shainin Certification preferred
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
