  • At Dormakaba, our Sr. Mechanical Project Engineers are a vital pillar in our design teams.  As a Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer you will be part of our New Product Design team.  This role supports project design teams by performing and completing work engaged in research and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical commercial locksets and hardware.  You will participate with representatives from engineering, project management, manufacturing, quality, test, and marketing in project definition, justification, planning, and execution.  You will use your broad experience of manufacturing processes and practices to help drive designs and successfully meet project goals and commitments.  You will be trusted to own engineering activities for projects including planning, reviewing, and leading project efforts from conception through design, validation, and into mass production.  You will find that fast, innovative, resourceful thinking and a drive to accomplish what has not been done before will help to achieve success.  We expect great things from our senior engineers and allows them the opportunities to demonstrate the skills and abilities on future thinking projects, and to help mentor younger engineers in their carriers along the way.




  • Assist the Project Manager and Product Manager in project justification, planning, and execution activities
  • Lead all aspects of engineering design for projects/products through team collaboration, persuasion, or hands on task execution
  • Monitor and report project status and develop contingency plans to assure that product development tasks are completed within time and budget constraints
  • Ensure all project and engineering documentation is properly recorded and archived using engineering due diligence and existing company policies and procedures
  • Lead and ensure proper execution on all engineering milestone and phase deliverables
  • Participate with, and support cross-functional team work with electrical, software and manufacturing engineers in the integrating of mechanical and electronic hardware with software for electromechanical product designs
  • Create and Analyze design concepts and detailed designs to assure compliance with product requirements, design specifications and applicable standards
  • Create and review test plans, test procedures, and test results to verify compliance with product requirements and quality standards
  • Lend technical and analytical expertise to aid in the analysis and refinement of product design concepts
  • Perform calculations and/or use computer analysis software to develop, analyze, and refine product models and design concepts




  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Master’s degree in related field a plus
  • Skills to include Analysis, Collaboration, Judgment & Planning and Organization
  • Minimum 8 years’ work experience in engineering
  • Knowledge of how to design for multiple manufacturing processes greatly desired.
  • Examples of Manufacturing process of interest: Machining (Lathe, Mill, grind, CNC, wireEDM…etc.), Broaching, Extrusions, Forging, Die Cast, Investment Cast, Powder Metal, Mold-Injected Metal, Mold-Injected Plastic, Stamping, Progressive Die, Deep Draw, and Hydroforming
  • Excellent English and Mandarin written and oral communication skills required 
  • Time management and organization skills required 
  • Comprehension of kinematics, statics, dynamics, stress analysis, properties of materials, and mechanism design required 
  • Applied knowledge of electro-mechanics and electronics packaging preferred 
  • Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis required 
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-1994) required 
  • Ability to perform DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and C&E analyses required 
  • Skills and experience with personal computers and applications which include electronic E-mail, personal scheduling, word processing, electronic spreadsheet, and project management required
  • High level proficiency in 3D CAD modeling & detailing, Creo preferred
  • Working knowledge of CAD Data Management systems, Windchill preferred
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems preferred
