POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Remote Specification Writer to join our Commercial Excellence team! This position is responsible for writing architectural specifications to support end users, architects, and design build firms. The specification writer will support the entire portfolio of dormakaba’s solutions and products including automatic doors and interior glass systems. This person will interact with architects, contractors, and owners throughout the process of developing solutions, publishing specifications, complying with owner’s standards, and managing the submittal process.

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $90,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) plus Sales Incentive Program. PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Provides project specifications covering the entire portfolio of dormakaba products, solutions, and services across all North American businesses
  • Engages with architects, end users, and design build firms including facilitating presnetations and training sessions
  • Writes specifications within the relevant sections of CSI’s master format division 8, 10, and 28
  • Ensures that all specs written are designed with the appropriate solutions for the facility and the specific functions of the end user/owner
  • Ensures that all specifications meet relevant building codes and local codes that are applicable to the project
  • Prepares catalog cuts and product specific information as requested by the architect
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to Architectural Sales Representatives
  • Writes and posts all specifications on the approved platform
  • Works with field sales as necessary to create strong RFA’s to displace competitive solutions
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with Project Architects (PA) to ensure recurring opportunities
  • Maintains current compliance with AHC, CSI, and AIA certifications
  • Maintains and improve current knowledge dormakaba’s solutions and products

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree; technical/vocational school degree or equivalent preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience in the door, door hardware or glass (interior/exterior) industry preferred
  • Current AHC certification is preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Bluebeam PDF software experience preferred
  • Meets deadlines and sets priorities effectively
  • Proven knowledge of IBC-International Building Code, NFPA 101-Life Safety, NFPA 80-Fire Doors and Frames, NFPA 105 and all ADA-Americans with Disabilities Act compliance regulations
  • Ability to navigate sustainability program issues (LEED, LBC, Green Globes) a plus
