POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our Technical Support team in Indianapolis, IN. This position will provide technical sales and service support of software products produced by BEST Access Solutions for the end-user. Responsibilities include effective communication with internal and external customers when making recommendations and solving problems.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Ensure optimum systems performance in assigned area including success of new development efforts and efficiency of existing systems.
  • Consult with appropriate field personnel to provide support, updates, and documentation as well as to assess the on-going effectiveness of the support structure.
  • Based on the thorough knowledge of the product capabilities, work with appropriate field personnel to adapt product to specific needs of the customer.  Make suggestions and recommendations to customers and internal constituents for modifications and improvements.
  • Receive and coordinate efforts to respond to specific technical product concerns from the field, acting as a liaison between various functional areas as needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot the following software, firmware, database, and networks.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, research and reasoning abilities in evaluating product returned from the field for unusual product wear, attack indications, or failure.
  • Write, prepare, and ready for distribution, an evaluation report of damaged or defective products returned by the field.  Coordinate distribution of written reports to appropriate internal customer departments to initiate improvement.
  • Evaluate needs and requests from the marketplace for new products and enhancements, or modifications to existing products to determine feasibility.  Report information and recommendations to appropriate areas within BEST.
  • Regularly communicate field concerns to process owners and functional areas.  Coordinating resolution or corrective action needed regarding mechanical product issues.
  • Travel as needed when accompanying field personnel on sales, installation, and service calls as required to provide technical information and BEST factory representation on a proactive and reactive basis.
  • Accept and manage a variety of projects, documentation review, and departmental process improvement projects, working toward specific completion dates.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A.S. in Computer Science or 3 years’ experience installing or supporting software, network or electronic systems.
  • Experience in support of software, operating systems, and or software development.
