POSITION OVERVIEW:

dormakaba is seeking a Benefits Manager to join our Human Resources department in Indianapolis, IN. This position will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of benefits programs, policies, and procedures.  This role will manage common benefits functions, including life, health, and disability insurance, retirement benefits and paid time off.  

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Leads the annual analysis and review of benefits plans and makes recommendations for changes
  • Leads the development of communication materials to promote the benefits programs
  • Assists with communicating and promoting the policies and programs to all levels of employees and management
  • Ensures compliance with all required benefits documentation (5500 filing, SPDS, etc.)
  • Develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for benefits department
  • Coordinates all benefits committees and meetings (investment committee, benefits design committee, etc.)
  • Respond to inquiries regarding insurance plans, including eligibility, procedures, etc.
  • Handle unusual problems and assist with claim issues
  • Knowledge of employee benefits regulations and laws including COBRA, HIPPA, ERISA, etc.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, brokers and vendors with a high degree of autonomy
  • Participates in the strategy and lead the annual benefits open enrollment cycle process
  • Participates in decisions regarding the appropriate benefits systems and technology platforms to use
  • Reconciles benefits invoicing
  • Serves as the point-of-contact and partners with Human Resource Managers and Business Partners to identify and resolve benefit issues
  • Conducts miscellaneous analyses, including creating complex reports, to support various benefit programs, providing analysis, advice, and education to managers on benefit issues, and interpreting benefit policies
  • Handles and maintains confidential materials, including financial and personnel records and files – ensuring employee personnel files are complete, compliant, confidential, and current
  • Participates in various industry-related total rewards and benefit surveys and utilize data to ensure competitive benefits and total rewards practices
  • Monitors trends and best practices and make recommendations that align with dormakaba’s total rewards philosophy
  • Develops and implements special projects as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant area of expertise
  • 5-7 years’ experience with Total Rewards and Benefits
  • Minimum of 5 years administering benefits programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of the various components of benefits and total rewards, including health and wellness, retirement, and service awards
  • Maintain the confidentiality, sensitivity and security of information. 
  • Ability to be a self-starter who works well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills required
  • Action oriented; takes initiative to correct problems or make change for improvement without waiting for direction.  Seeks help when uncertain about appropriate action or information
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Thorough understanding of State and Federal wage and hour laws including FLSA and ERISA
  • Experience leading and supervising
