Position Overview
To design, lead and continuously evolve the company’s global Group Privacy Program, AI, and digital regulatory strategy by establishing and overseeing an integrated governance framework. The role provides expert legal and regulatory guidance, builds operational capabilities, and partners cross‑functionally to translate complex global requirements into practical controls, processes, and business‑aligned solutions.
The dormakaba Group Privacy Program encompasses both internal and external dimensions, including employee privacy and internal compliance processes, as well as customer, product, vendor, and regulatory privacy requirements.
What you will do
- Global Data Privacy Governance: lead and evolve the enterprise-wide privacy framework; provide strategic advice across GDPR, CCPA, PIPL, LGPD and other global regimes; oversee privacy-by-design implementation across business and product lifecycle.
- AI Governance: develop and operationalize the company’s AI Governance Framework; translate regulatory requirements (e.g., EU AI Act and other emerging AI laws) into practical internal controls; support AI risk assessments, conformity assessments and documentation requirements.
- Digital & Cyber Regulatory Compliance: advise on obligations under evolving digital regulations (e.g., NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, Data Act), ensure integration of regulatory requirements into product development and IT processes.
- Group Global Privacy Program: develop policies, templates, playbooks, controls and training, maintain governance documentation and reporting mechanisms, drive continuous improvement and regulatory monitoring.
- Third-Party Risk & Contracting: lead privacy and AI risk review in vendor onboarding and lifecycle management, negotiate DPAs, AI clauses, cybersecurity addenda and technology contracts, balance regulatory compliance with commercial priorities
- Cross-Functional Advisory & Business Partnering: advise Product, Engineering, IT, Procurement and Commercial teams, support strategic digital and AI initiatives, act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
- Group DPO Responsibilities: serve as Global Group DPO as well as local DPO where legally required, act as key point of contact for regulators and supervisory authorities, oversee compliance audits and regulatory inquiries.
- Major Job Challenges: interpreting fast-evolving and often ambiguous regulatory frameworks, translating complex legal requirements into operational and technical processes, balancing innovation speed with regulatory compliance and risk mitigation, managing global regulatory complexity across multiple jurisdictions, influencing cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, building scalable governance structures in a dynamic, high-growth environment, developing and retaining specialized talent in a competitive market.
What we require
- 7–12+ years of experience in working with and advising on privacy, technology law, digital compliance, cyber security, and commercial legal matters in a reputable law firm and/or an in-house role in a company with significant data handling activities.
- Deep expertise advising on (i) multinational privacy regimes (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPL, LGPD) and (ii) emerging digital regulations (EU AI Act, Cyber Resilience Act, Data Act, NIS2, etc.).
- Master’s degree in Law and admission to a bar in home jurisdiction(civil law or common law). Certifications such as IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, or AIGP are highly advantageous.
