Reporting to the Sr. Manager - Mechanical Engineering and Validation, the incumbent is primarily responsible for obtaining certifications to various industry standards for new products and for maintaining these for existing products. Also responsible for planning, coordinating and occasionally performing electromechanical and environmental tests on products.
Main functions
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, monitor and manage qualification tests to local and international industry standards with various agencies and laboratories (UL, Intertek, etc.)
- Maintain the certifications of our products and their records
- Track annual new certification and certification maintenance budget for the LGS cluster of products
- Assist the external auditors of the various certification agencies during factory audits in Montreal. Support remote assembly plants with training & information in order for them to successfully handle their audits
- Prepare test plans for electromechanical, environmental, system tests or any other tests required for new products
- Coordinate testing for our products internally and externally, and in other dormakaba locations in different regions
- Install, configure and test components and systems (when done locally) to ensure proper functionality, or prepare materials to be shipped when remote testing
- Support the other manufacturing locations and various sales & marketing offices of dormakaba internationally with questions relating to certifications
- Create test reports summarizing tests and their results
- Plan the maintenance and upgrading of laboratory equipment
- Ensure that our products meet the environmental directives (RoHS, REACH & SCIP list, Proposition 65, WEE, LEED, etc.) required for the various markets. Support and make the appropriate follow-ups
- Carry out audits for the marking and labeling of our products
- Be on the lookout for new standards and certifications for our products, as well as their updates.
Requirements
- Diploma of College Study (DCS – DEC in Quebec) in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering or any other relevant education or training
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software
- Experience in dealing with certification laboratories
- Good learning ability, organized, precise and honest
- 5 years and more of relevant experience
- Bilingualism (English / French) with good verbal & written communication skills
- Work location is at dormakaba Montreal facility, infrequent travel to set up & supervise tests at outside labs also required (approx. 3-4 times/year).
