Quality Assurance Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW/DUTIES:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is a key member of the manufacturing team reporting directly to the Quality & Engineering Manager. This position will be a crucial leader for all product quality assurance standards & initiatives, driving daily/weekly/monthly success, and is also a vital component of driving a lean and continuously improving culture. This position will act as the supervisor & leader for five associates assigned to the Quality Assurance team and will be responsible for the short- and long-term development of these associates to ensure success of the business.

 

              Specific responsibilities include:

  • Leads department by understanding all dimensions & expectations of quality assurance standards within the facility
  • Coaches quality, Lean, and process improvement methods promoting a continuous learning environment
  • Utilizes ERP system (SAP) daily to control flow, priorities, and other key QA data
  • Supports Quality & Engineering, Production, and Plant Managers by executing strategic and operational objectives while also assessing current processes performed to identify ways to achieve more efficient output
  • Oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of doors, frames, materials, parts, and other products to ensure adherence to established quality standards
  • Establishes & refines inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process

 

             

 

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:

  • Has an advanced understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Basic understanding of Lean principles & tools in a manufacturing setting, and the ability to apply these principles to drive continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to communicate across multiple levels of management, departments, and customers
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Understanding of quality standards, and how to implement in a manufacturing setting
  • Effective analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking skills to not only be able to identify issues but provide solutions
  • Ability to understand, collaborate, and execute corporate-led initiatives such as performance reviews
  • Ability to exhibit strategic planning and use problem-solving methods
  • Skills or experience with personal computers, including E-mail, personal scheduling, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lead people to daily/weekly, and long-term success
  • Ability to use wide range of measurement instruments measuring tape, calipers, etc
  • Manual dexterity and mobility enough to extensively, safely, and productively use hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, small grinders, welding stingers, and similar fabrication shop equipment
  • Enough mobility to allow the employee to work in restricted or out of normal positions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively during a shift

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Degree/GED or equivalent required, Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Operations (preferred)
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing setting
