Project Engineer

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Product Development department at dormakaba! We are seeking a creative and organized individual who will join the team and assist with developing new products while managing engineering changes to technical documentation and bills of materials/parts lists.



Specific responsibilities include:

  • Creates and modifies 3D CAD data, drawings, basic ERP data, and parts lists/bills of materials
  • Prepares reports covering pre-production trials, pilot’s series production, and duplicates series production
  • Schedules and estimates cost of design tasks for assigned product line(s)
  • Coordinates (technically) with suppliers regarding parts/components
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation
  • Performs a technical analysis of product requirements
  • Reviews engineering change requests (ECRs) for feasibility and processing of changes (ECNs)
  • Performs technical evaluation of trial and test results
  • Escalates foreseeable deviations from schedule/budget requirements to the line manager
  • Oversees quality of drawings produced
  • Verifies completeness and correctness of design documentation and ECNs
  • Ensures efficacy of proposed concepts and solutions
  • Creates (independently) drafting, engineering, design, and testing of components, assemblies, and product groups
  • Translates and implements (independently) solutions proposed by engineering department or team leader



  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong solid modeling skills, SolidWorks preferred
  • Self-sufficient through all steps of development (design, drawings, BOMs, ECNs)
  • Ability to coordinate between multiple departments at different locations
  • Extensive mechanical design experience
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • A self-starter
  • Willing to travel approx. 1 week per quarter




  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering or technical discipline or 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Design-Related Decision-making experience
  • Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Etc.
  • Experience in Lean initiatives




  • Extensive experience in SolidWorks (or 3D modelling)
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 and 14001 compliance
