Technical Sales Engineer

dormakaba is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our Sales & Service team in Reamstown, PA. This position will be responsible for serving as a liaison in the sales process when complex and technical equipment or services are involved, managing the pre installation coordination of submittals and other technical requirements for a project, while also will focusing on Exit Lane Breach Control and the variety of Self boarding gate solutions dormakaba manufactures.  They will also be responsible for vetting our customers’ integrated technology and determine the best configurations of the dormakaba product to meet the customers’ needs.



  • Obtains and vets customers’ technical requirements of our products and advise them of necessary dormakaba requirements of our products (E-Gates and ELBC)
  • Interfaces with the appropriate dormakaba product managers to ensure a solution can be effectively deployed
  • Posts installation follow ups with dormakaba’s various customer types
  • Memorizes technical product specifications and keeping up to date with new company products as well as industry trend
  • Attends conferences, lectures, seminars, and workshops to improve your skills and knowledge
  • Conducts market research and obtaining feedback from clients to improve existing products
  • Writes reports and liaising with the production team regarding issues, foreseeable problems, and effective solutions
  • Simplifies technical terms during product demonstrations and post-sales customer support
  • Maintains strong professional relationships with existing clients
  • Listens to customers’ needs and advising them on the best solutions for their needs
  • Liaises with existing customers and stakeholders during the pre-installation period Post Award
  • Assists in the preparation of Tenders and proposals
  • Assists in the writing of sales and technical documentation
  • Completes submittals and other project specific documents required to move a project to the deployment stage
  • Attends trade exhibitions, conferences, and other meetings with existing and future customers
  • Relays pertinent site conditions and project requirements to the installation manager in an orchestrated handoff prior to job scheduling



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar with a focus in Electrical Engineering
  • Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time
  • Strong Customer service, analytical, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, research and multitasking abilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A professional appearance
  • The ability to pass government and non -government background investigations and obtain security clearances to enter critical infrastructure facilities
  • Effective use of our CRM, salesforce.com
