SUMMARY

The Automation Engineer will identify new opportunities for automation within the manufacturing process and assist with implementation.  This position works closely with Design Engineering to evaluate design concepts for electrical components and assemblies to achieve new product and current product requirements.  Provides technical expertise as liaison between internal and external customers and manufacturing on design intent issues.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identification of new opportunities for automation within the manufacturing process.
  • Support the design and development of new automated products and modifications to existing products as required.
  • Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment including pneumatic / electro-pneumatic and hydraulic systems when errors occur.
  • Develop electrical component part designs in CAD in line with industry and proper engineering practices in common materials.
  • Responsible for improving quality of product; robustness and design of testing.
  • Approves releases, and coordinates communication of Engineering Change Notices. 
  • Provides engineering analysis and implementation of design modifications recommended to accommodate continuous production and sale of existing products or improve product efficiency or cost.
  • Responsible for generating, accumulating, and disseminating technical data on products needed by persons or groups within Modernfold, Inc and its Distributors.
  • Responsible for originating ideas for new products, product features, and product modifications.
  • Represents the company to internal & external customers.
  • Work with prototype shop to construct working prototype models when applicable.
  • Support other Team members regarding electrical content.
  • Work with patent attorneys to provide protection for product innovations.
  • Travel as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree in Automation, Process Control, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineer from an accredited college with 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.  Computer literate in Word, Excel, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD.
