Position Overview

 

dormakaba is seeking a remote Application & Systems Engineer. Candidates must be located in Southern California. The Application & Systems Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for integration partners implementing cloud APIs, mobile credential applications, and SDKs by providing technical guidance and developing sample applications, integration. This role focuses on enabling successful partner integrations, while collaborating closely with development teams to share customer insights and drive product improvements. This is a technical integration and enablement role, not a cloud or mobile application development position.

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $110,000 - $150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

 

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customers and partners integrating cloud APIs, mobile credential applications, and SDKs, collaborating on deployments and resolving integration challenges
  • Create and maintain integration guides, API/SDK documentation, sample applications, reference code, and utilities that simplify and accelerate partner onboarding
  • Execute functional, integration, and end-to-end testing across cloud, mobile, and hardware platforms, while developing automated regression tests and validating mobile credential workflows
  • Partner with engineering teams to communicate customer requirements, document issues with actionable detail, recommend product enhancements, and ensure timely resolution and follow-up
  • Build internal tools and automated workflows that integrate cloud platform data with business systems (e.g., ERP/CRM), streamline operational processes, and improve billing, licensing, and usage reporting

 

What we require

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role that combines software development, system integration, and direct engagement with customers or partners
  • Working proficiency in Python, REST APIs, authentication workflows, JSON payloads, error handling, and tools such as Postman, with the ability to read, modify, and develop clear, runnable example code
  • Strong system-level thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues across complex technology stacks, including embedded firmware, cloud services, and mobile applications
  • Ability to create clear defect reports and feature requests with detailed context, reproduction steps, and requirements that enable development teams to act without additional clarification

What we prefer

  • Prior experience in a customer-facing technical role, acting as a bridge between customers, partners, and development teams to gather requirements, manage defects, and support product improvements
  • Experience in integrating business systems such as CRM, ERP, or billing platforms, and building data workflows, reporting automation, or internal tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Hands-on experience with mobile application integration and testing across iOS and/or Android platforms, including validation of user workflows and system interactions
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Pytest, Playwright, Appium, or similar tools, along with familiarity with CI/CD processes and automated validation workflows
  • Familiarity with physical access control technologies, RFID/NFC/BLE, or credential systems, along with experience creating clear developer-facing documentation for external audiences
