POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Alvarado Quality Control team in Chino, CA. This position is responsible for leading, identifying, and implementing continuous improvement projects. The role will identify best practices, processes, and standard work to achieve quality/manufacturing strategy to ensure consistent high-quality results.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Designs, develops, and executes quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Develops product validation and test procedures for incoming and in-process materials, components, processes, and finished goods. Define quality procedures, quality checks and quality validation in concurrence with Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing
  • Works with Operations Manager and Production Supervisor to review and improve manufacturing processes, ensuring that product validation procedures and tests are properly understood and consistently performed
  • Leads the material rejection review board. Maintains a meaningful and effective material review corrective action plan for internal processes and suppliers, follow up with internal and outside stakeholders on executing corrective actions
  • Assists technical support manager with reviewing and managing customer complaints, including performing root cause analysis, reporting, and supporting production management team on creating and executing corrective action plans
  • Supports the Operations Manager and Production Supervisor in developing work instructions and flow charts for quality risk mitigation
  • Drives process and provides support in qualification of new product launches, first article validations, and vendor management
  • Assists the Purchasing and Engineering team on cost savings projects and new product introductions that includes qualification of new suppliers
  • Works with Engineering team to improve operation and manufacturing methods for existing and new products.
  • Initiates continuous improvement projects
  • Organizes and analyzes performance data (KPI’s), creates charts against historical data to ensure continuous improvement trending. Provides meaningful information to management team to drive continuous improvement across the organization
  • Leads compliance/factory audits with UL, Intertek, LA Test Lab, and other agencies
  • Leads Customer compliance, product, and factory audits
  • Performs incoming and in-process quality inspection, works with technicians and inspectors to optimize processes

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field, or equivalent experience in a technical discipline
  • 3-5 years progressive experience in developing and maintaining quality systems
  • Proven experience in managing or directing the work of a small team
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience in Lean initiatives, such as Kaizen, value stream mapping, 5-S, etc.
  • Project management
  • Demonstrated Experience with Quality management Systems, its principles, standards, and practices, assembly and fabrication procedures, safety practices, engineering methods, design and drafting standard and manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Demonstrated written and oral communications
  • Proficiency in MS Office
