As a vital member of our National Safety Team, this newly created Health and Safety Business Partner role in QLD will be instrumental in promoting a safe and compliant work environment across our Commercial and Best Doors operations, aligning with dormakaba Group's health and safety objectives.
This role works closely with field technicians, field managers, installers of residential garage doors, commercial shutters, branch managers, and other stakeholders to implement safety protocols, monitor performance and drive continuous improvements
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead continuous risk reduction initiatives and champion a proactive approach to health and safety.
- Work hands-on with teams to embed safety best practices and foster a behavioural-based safety culture.
- Provide guidance on legislative compliance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
- Support incident investigations and deliver insightful safety reports for ongoing improvement.
- Support the development of safety plans and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
- Collaborate as part of a larger team to implement and deliver a Health & Safety management system that complies with ISO 45001 standards
- Facilitate safety-related training and workshops to empower managers and staff.
- Collaborate on initiatives that enhance employee well-being and foster a safety-first mindset
YOUR SKILLS
To succeed in this role, you will have a strong background in health & safety and a passion for educating and influencing others. You will have a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels of stakeholders, both internal and external, while maintaining a collaborative and results-driven focus
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role
- Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety (Degree, Diploma or Certificate IV)
- Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, hazard identification, and risk assessment
- Experience in facilitating risk reduction workshops and working groups
- Proven ability to influence and coach managers and teams towards safety excellence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in report writing
- Experience with ISO 45001 or similar safety management systems is highly desirable.
