As part of an ongoing expansion in the PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY TEAM we are seeking a CATEGORY MANAGER (Indirect spend) to join the team to take control of the company’s contracted suppliers, ensuring that dormakaba not only remains cost competitive, but can also rely on the quality of the services / material provided but the individual suppliers.



Based in our headquarters in Hitchin, Herts, The role will be to strategically plan, source and manage the company’s indirect procurement spend, identifying potential vendors through your work with both internal stakeholders, networking with suppliers and agreeing & managing contracts for material and services. You will also be responsible for ongoing vendor management along with the SQE, auditing for quality as well as ensuring resilience to market factors to ensure that the vendor can both supply and maintain the agreed grade of material and services. Suppliers can be a mixture of local and overseas businesses which can supply on either a regular arrangement or via a project-by-project basis.


This will be a fast paced and challenging environment, where you will need to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in pressurised situations.  Therefore, we are looking for an experienced procurement professional with a consistent approach; A strong influencer of both internal stakeholders and suppliers; an individual who is able to ensure vendors commit not only to product / service quality but who can also ensure compliance with regards to other criteria, which includes environmental, health and safety and sustainability responsibilities.



To be considered you need to demonstrate

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject OR significant professional experience
  • 3 years+ in a similar post, working within either the engineering or construction industry
  • Strong knowledge / experience of the procurement and product development process to include contracts negotiation, supplier management (to include SLA’s and KPI’s) and ideally auditing to ISO 9001 
  • Experience of either engineering and / or engineering quality assurance
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build, manage and maintain supplier networks as well as managing the expectations of internal stakeholders.


Whilst not essential preference will be given to candidates with:

  • CIPS level 5 or equivalent
  • Lean / six sigma experience
  • ISO9001 supplier or auditor status
