Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at dormakaba! We are seeking an individual with a keen eye for efficiency and knowledge of applicable engineer principles that they can implement to increase lean practices in our manufacturing department.



Specific responsibilities include:

  • Analyzes highly complex production and processes
    • Plans the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
    • Directs the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Documents and maintains process procedures, work instructions, and tool drawings
  • Reviews performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies
  • Conducts root cause analysis for rejected or faulty parts
    • Researches work processes and conduct failure analysis to determine cause of error or problem parts
  • Analyzes SPC (statistical process control) data for identified work processes to ensure level of performance
  • Assists with instructing, training, and answering area-specific questions for less experienced Manufacturing Engineers or other departmental personnel
  • Conducts “make vs. buy” analysis on new or existing parts/processes
  • Establishes acceptance criteria for new tools, equipment, and/or processes
  • Serves as a technical resource and manufacturing liaison to Supply Management and New Product Development for new and existing parts, products, and processes
  • Develops tooling, fixturing, and routing processes for screw machines, rotary transfer, broaching, stampings and die development




  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
  • Ability to perform make vs. buy analysis
  • Ability to read blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing                                                          
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and work processes
  • Capacity to perform root cause analysis
  • Problem solving and prevention knowledge, such as FMEA
  • Knowledge of drawing technical prints and CAD
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of material flow
  • Experience performing time studies
  • Strong interpersonal, team building, planning and organizational skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of SPC
  • Knowledge of current manufacturing industry technologies
  • Major machine processing experience (5+ year)




  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering/Technology, from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or process environment
  • Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)
  • Stamping and Die Development knowledge/experience
