POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a remote Specification Writer to join its Architectural Services team. This role will report directly to the Specification Writer Production Manager and will work closely with internal team members. The Specification Writer is responsible for writing architectural specifications to support end users, architects, and design build firms. They will support the entire portfolio of dormakaba’s solutions and products; interacting with architects, contractors, and owners throughout the process of developing solutions.

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $105,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide project specifications covering the entire portfolio of dormakaba products, solutions, and services within all of the North American businesses.
  • Ensure that all specs written are designed with the appropriate solutions for the facility and the specific functions of the end user/owner
  • Responsible for ensuring that all specifications meet relevant building codes and local codes that are applicable to the project
  • Prepare catalog cuts and product specific information as requested by the architect
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to Architectural Sales Representatives
  • Write and post all specifications on the approved platform
  • Work with field sales as necessary to create strong RFA’s in order to displace competitive solutions
  • Develop and nurture relationships with Project Architects (PA) to ensure recurring opportunities
  • Maintain current compliance with AHC, CSI, and AIA certifications
  • Maintain and improve current knowledge dormakaba’s solutions and products

 

 

WHAT WE REQUIRE

  • 8+ years’ experience in the door and hardware industry
  • Experience coordinating project requirements with architects and field sales professionals
  • Must have proven knowledge of IBC-International Building Code, NFPA 101-Life Safety, NFPA 80-Fire Doors and Frames, NFPA 105 and all ADA-Americans with Disabilities Act compliance regulations.
  • Must have experience writing specifications within the relevant sections of CSI’s Master Format Division 8, 10, and 28. 

 

 

WHAT WE PREFER

  • Associate degree; technical/vocational school degree or equivalent
  • Current AHC certification
  • Project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of security integration systems preferred
  • Knowledge of industry specific software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Bluebeam PDF software experience preferred
