Tool & Die Maker II

POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Tool & Die Maker based in Indianapolis, IN. This role will report directly to the Production Supervisor and work closely with several production teams. The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for working with blueprints and sketches to create or modify prototypes, tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds. This position builds and repairs customer machine shop tools, and a variety of other responsibilities.

This position may be offered on 1st Shift (6AM – 2:30PM) with a base pay range of $25.05/hr. - $32.07/hr. This position will participate in mandatory overtime as needed.

$2,000 Sign-on Bonus (details provided during interview).

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Follow operation instructions and operate machines
• Perform complex machine setups and advanced quality inspections
• Use measuring instruments and calculate required dimensions/tolerances for tool set-up
• Perform complex tool changes
• Use hand tools and operate lathes, grinders, milling, boring machines, etc.
• Design fixtures/jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts
• Troubleshoot the equipment
• Precision grinding
• Train and develop others
• Daily 5S housekeeping

WHAT WE REQUIRE

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Extensive experience in the machine shop Tool & Die trade
• Proficiency understanding of shop math and blueprint reading/understanding

• Sit or stand, alternate between sitting and standing at will
• Walk, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, balance
• Use hands/fingers to seize, hold, grasp, turn, and for fine manipulation
• Push, pull, reach overhead at or below shoulder level
• Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Have near and far visual acuity with or without correction
• Communicate and maneuver effectively within a manufacturing environment
