Mechanical Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Mechanical Engineer based in Lexington, KY. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting project teams, with minimal guidance from management, through all phases of New Product development (Concept generation, Testing, Tooling, Validation, and Production). They support management with technical input to project scope, schedule, and budget. The Mechanical Engineer will participate with, and support cross-functional teamwork with electrical, software and manufacturing engineers, in the integrating of mechanical and electronic hardware with software for electro-mechanical product designs.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $65,000 - $100,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Create CAD models and drawings related to project efforts utilizing Solidworks and Windchill
• Create design documentation such as 2D stack-up analysis, DFMEA, test plans, and other related items as instructed by the Senior Engineer or management
• Perform calculations/use computer analysis software to develop, analyze, and refine product models and design concepts
• Ensure project documentation is properly recorded
• Make sound recommendations for material and design process for components that meet the business and product requirements

WHAT WE REQUIRE

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
• Proficient with standard drawing tolerance and GD&T standard (ASME Y14.5M-2009)
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
• Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) creation/ risk mitigation experience

WHAT WE PREFER

• At least 2 years of experience designing mechanical components and mechanisms
• High level of proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, detailing & data management, Solidworks and Windchill
