Position

 

The Manager, Total Rewards & HRSS, Canada reports directly to the AVP HR, Canada and Lodging Systems and is part of the Total Rewards Team for the region Americas. The HR coordinator and paymaster positions located in Montreal both report to this Manager. This person is a subject matter expert in the areas of Canadian compensation & benefits and is responsible for delivering compensation expertise and alignment throughout the Canadian entities of the Americas through the HR Business Partners. This manager leads the implementation of Canada-based HR Shared Services and is responsible for delivering first class client service and processes for day-to-day and recurring annual HR activities for the Canadian entities.

 

 

         Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for total rewards related topics (including compensation, group benefits and pension) for the HR Business Partners within Canada
  • Administers total rewards programs including base pay, incentive pay, pay equity, annual compensation review, vacation policy, group insurance program, defined contribution pension plan and market analysis with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Leads all Comp reviews/merit increases/bonuses for Canadian sites: preparation and validation, planning and implementation and communication (in French and English)
  • Oversees the Canadian Payroll
  • Acts as the support expert with HRBPs and line managers on offers of employment, promotional increases and other off-cycle adjustments, when required, in order to optimize our ability to attract and retain top talent
  • Provides data analysis ensuring that the compensation and benefits programs aligns with the business strategy while ensuring Canadian market competitiveness
  • Evaluates positions and maintains job structures for their respective units in line with the overall region and global structure
  • Applies the Pay Equity requirements in Quebec
  • Prices specific jobs within the client groups to determine target compensation in line with budgets, internal equity, and job structures
  • Consults with line managers and HRBPs on re-organizations and the impact on employees including job evaluation, RIF planning, and compensation changes
  • Manages compensation projects within their client groups
  • Acts as the President of the dormakaba Canada Inc. Defined Contribution Pension Plan Committee.
  • Participates in the development and management of our HRIS systems to enhance our HR reporting/analytics capabilities
  • Manages benefits vendor relationships, benefits contracts, and bid negotiation
  • Manages one HR coordinator responsible for the daily transactions within the HR systems and the administration of various HR programs and the paymaster for Canadian sites
  • Supports the management of large-scale projects that require centralized coordination, administration or other support such as:
      • New policy rollouts
      • Group Benefits and Pension enrollment
      • Other projects as assigned
  • Develops and implements HR Standard Work and leads recurring compliance activities:
      • Establishes and maintains a standardized set of HR processes and manages the integrity and security of employee data according to applicable laws and regulations
      • Helps to define requirements for systems that will facilitate increased efficiencies, automation and/or self-service for various HR processes.

 

 

         Required profile

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or HR management
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in compensation and benefits in Canada
  • Project Management and/or Shared Services experience preferred
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office and advanced Microsoft Excel Skills required
  • Experience with SAP and ADP (WorkForce Now) Payroll an asset
  • Strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts in a simple and concise way to ensure ease of understanding
  • Solid organization/project management skills and experience with process improvement necessary
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
  • High energy and ability to multi-task with accuracy and timeliness
  • Must be able to plan and prioritize against multiple targets, tight timelines and leveraging metrics to show results
  • Must be a team player who values accountability, quality and has a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
