Position Overview

 

dormakaba is seeking a First Shift (6:00AM-2:30PM) Production Lead based in Indianapolis, IN. The Production Lead provides day-to-day operational and technical leadership within an assigned manufacturing area by coordinating workflow, supporting team members, ensuring adherence to standardized work, and promoting a safe, quality-focused production environment.

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $28/hr. - $35/hr.  Mandatory overtime may be required as needed. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). What you will do

  • Coordinate daily production activities by balancing labor, assigning work, removing barriers, and meeting Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) objectives
  • Co-lead daily SQCDP meetings by communicating priorities, reviewing metrics, resolving issues, and driving accountability
  • Maintain SQCDP visual boards with accurate metrics, action plans, and continuous improvement updates
  • Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned processes by troubleshooting issues, optimizing equipment, and minimizing downtime
  • Perform advanced machine operations, setups, changeovers, and process verification to support production and standard work compliance

 

What we require

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of advanced manufacturing experience and demonstrated proficiency operating punch press machines with progressive dies; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated expertise operating, setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Experience delivering technical training, mentoring employees, validating operator competency, and supporting cross-training initiatives
  • Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) experience and the ability to obtain certification within established timeframes

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Use hands and fingers for seizing, holding, grasping, turning, etc. and for fine manipulation such as touching, picking, and pinching
  • Use close/distance/color/peripheral vision, including using depth perception and adjusting focus
  • Remain active throughout shift by standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and lifting/moving items up to 40 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 50 pounds occasionally

What we prefer

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, standardized work, SQCDP, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Previous experience serving as a technical lead, SME, or informal leader in a manufacturing environment
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, Precision Machining, Mechatronics, Tool & Die, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
