 dormakaba is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Reamstown, PA. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning the arrangement of equipment to ensure most efficient and productive process layout.  This position documents and specifies routine, regular procedures, and work instructions for the use of equipment and processes that affect product performance. This hybrid role of Manufacturing/Welding Engineer has extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in all facets of various welding and joining technologies and related equipment, as well as experience managing new product introductions, equipment projects (new installations) and process optimization, upgrades, and modifications.




  • Develops and implements effective manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Works with Quality Control to create a baseline of standards for product, monitor, and alter as necessary.
  • Reviews tooling and machining techniques; provides technical support to all departments and implements new methods and procedures when necessary. Designs and drafts to provide necessary tools for use on machinery to manufacture parts from detailed drawings.
  • Reviews performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies.
  • Conducts root cause analysis for rejected or faulty parts. Researches work processes and conduct failure analysis to determine cause of error or problem parts.
  • Collaborates with LEAN Coordinator to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for designing/selecting welding and joining systems, implementation, commissioning, and programming.
  • Regularly cleans area and maintains equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.




  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or technical discipline required. Industrial or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience using logic-controlled equipment and AutoCAD/Solidworks desired.
  • 5-10 years of welding experience, specifically tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding with aluminum, bronze and stainless steel. MIG welding with aluminum is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Knowledge and experience developing and implementing LEAN processes. Black Belt or Green Belt Certification a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 and 14001 systems preferred.
  • 50% Normal office environment, 50% direct manufacturing floor.
