Position Overview
The Global Category Manager – Installers & Engineering Services / Technical Consultants is responsible for developing and implementing the global sourcing and category strategies for the Installers and Engineering Services & Technical Consultants categories.
Working in close partnership with key business stakeholders, the role jointly defines category strategies, governance models, sourcing roadmaps, and global operating principles that support the company's commercial and operational objectives.
Acting as the global coordinator for both categories, the Global Category Manager leads the implementation of agreed strategies across EMEA, AMER, and APAC, working closely with Regional Procurement teams and business stakeholders to ensure consistent execution while balancing regional business requirements.
The role is accountable for driving Procurement transformation by increasing spend transparency, optimizing the supplier landscape, strengthening governance, delivering sustainable value creation, mitigating commercial risk, and establishing a consistent global operating model.
What you will do
- Develop and continuously improve global category strategies for the Installers and Engineering Services & Technical Consultants categories in close collaboration with key business stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into global sourcing strategies, supplier roadmaps, governance frameworks, and operating models.
- Act as the global coordinator for both categories, ensuring alignment between Global Procurement, Regional Procurement teams, and business stakeholders across EMEA, AMER, and APAC.
- Lead the implementation of agreed category strategies across all regions, coordinating execution with Regional Procurement teams while allowing appropriate flexibility for local business requirements.
- Lead global strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, RFx processes, commercial negotiations, contract creation, and contract renewals.
- Directly manage the company's most strategic global suppliers, including executive supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, supplier performance, business reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Define global contractual frameworks, commercial standards, governance principles, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), payment terms, and supplier performance expectations.
- Provide strategic direction and governance for regional sourcing activities while supporting Regional Procurement teams in managing regional and mid-sized suppliers.
- Increase global spend visibility by developing transparency across suppliers, contracts, and expenditure while identifying opportunities for supplier consolidation and standardization.
- Drive supplier rationalization initiatives to reduce supplier complexity, optimize the supplier portfolio, and leverage global purchasing power.
- Identify and deliver sustainable value through cost savings, payment term improvements, commercial optimization, enhanced contractual conditions, operational efficiencies, and supplier innovation.
- Build strong partnerships with key business stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor for strategic sourcing, supplier management, and Procurement governance.
- Monitor market developments, supplier capabilities, industry trends, and emerging technologies to proactively identify opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
- Ensure compliance with Procurement policies, governance standards, contractual obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support Procurement transformation by implementing global standards, best practices, and category management excellence across all regions.
What we require
- Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of Procurement or Category Management experience within a global, international organization.
- Proven experience developing and implementing global category strategies, preferably in the assigned Categories Installers & Engineering Services.
- Strong experience leading complex strategic sourcing initiatives and high-value commercial negotiations.
- Demonstrated success managing strategic supplier relationships and executive stakeholder engagement.
- Experience working within global matrix organizations and coordinating cross-regional initiatives.
- Experience in supplier governance, contract management, and Procurement transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
