Tactical Buyer

As an expansion to our procurement team in the UK we are seeking a Tactical buyer to be based in our Tiverton Branch in Devon, supporting the procurement of indirect spend items to be used across all of our UK sites.  

A job that matters: Your Tasks 

Responsibility for operational activities related to indirect spend categories that fall outside the scope of Strategic Procurement. 

The tactical buyer will actively promote continuous improvement by challenging process and procedure to identify and implement valid improvements.

Working with the business to minimize maverick buying and ensure a compliant ordering process.

• Order creation completing the automated spend request flows (including tracking of delivery dates and order confirmations as necessary)
• Order creation upon approval from Procurement outside the automated spend request flows (including tracking of delivery dates and order confirmations as necessary)
• Order placement for stationary, business cards and similar from approved suppliers and against price lists pre-agreed by Procurement
• Order placement for workwear from approved suppliers and against price lists pre-agreed by Procurement
• Order placement for spot buy freight approved by Procurement and/or Freight Coordinator
• Creation of VCC requests and respective purchase orders as required ad hoc; follow up with requestor to ensure VAT invoice received for these POs
• Purchasing data maintenance (e.g. supplier p/n, price breaks & lead times)
• Good collaboration with and support of internal customers / stakeholders

An experience that matters: Your Skills

• ≥2 years experience in a similar position
• MS Office is a must, experience using SAP (or equivalent) ERP system
• Experience in handling interactions with suppliers
• A level or equivalent standard of education
• Education as Certified Purchasing Specialist, Diploma of Higher Education is an advantage 
• Feeling comfortable within a complex and fast moving as well as changing environment
• Good social competence 
• Excellent in teamwork
• Proactive attitude
• Independent working
• Strong organizational and communication skills, 
• Resilience and endurance in daily business (administration, order & dunning process)
