Position Overview

 

dormakaba is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II based in Indianapolis, IN. This position supports reliable plant operations by independently performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a wide range of production and facility equipment. The position contributes to training and guiding entry-level technicians, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and driving equipment reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

This position is First Shift (6:00AM – 2:30PM) with a base pay range of $35/hr. – 40/hr.  Mandatory overtime may be required as needed.  (Pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). What you will do

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks in Cribmaster, ensuring accurate scheduling, documentation, and completion
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, motors, and gearboxes
  • Conduct intermediate electrical troubleshooting and repairs (sensors, switches, wiring, VFDs, motors); escalate complex PLC or controls issues when needed
  • Fabricate, align, and install parts and assemblies using machining, welding, and precision measuring tools
  • Support equipment changeovers, rebuilds, and installations to improve performance and extend equipment life

 

What we require

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in using Cribmaster / CMMS system, and standard plant systems for maintenance scheduling, work order entry, and parts management
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent technical training/apprenticeship
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical wiring diagrams, and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics
  • Familiarity with welding, machining, and precision measurement tools for fabrication and alignment

  • Remain active throughout shift by standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and lifting/moving items up to 40 pounds

 

What we prefer

  • Associate’s degree, trade school, or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related technical field
  • Experience with intermediate electrical systems (wiring, sensors, VFDs, motors); basic PLC knowledge
  • Certifications such as forklift, aerial lift, or welding
