Based at dormakaba’s international headquarters in Rümlang, Switzerland, the Media Relations Manager (Corporate) shapes, strengthens and protects the company’s external reputation through proactive media relations and professional issues and crisis management. Working closely with Senior Management, the role develops and implements media strategies for corporate, financial, strategic and transformation-related topics.

 

Your responsibilities

• Take responsibility for media relations on corporate, strategic, financial and business topics, including the development and implementation of corresponding media strategies.

• Manage communications relating to financial results, acquisitions, partnerships and other significant corporate developments in close coordination with Investor Relations.

• Build and maintain sustainable relationships with business, financial, trade and industry media, while proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen the company’s visibility and positioning.

• Prepare press releases, statements, key messages, Q&As, briefing documents and materials for company spokespersons.

• Develop and embed corporate messages and strategic narratives, ensuring consistent and aligned external communication across all communication activities and stakeholders.

• Position Top Management and other company spokespersons through interviews, media appearances, bylined articles and strategic thought-leadership activities.

,• Develop and maintain frameworks, guidelines and processes for crisis communications, and manage communications relating to sensitive corporate issues and reputational risks, including the preparation of holding statements, media responses and crisis messaging.

• Advise executives and subject-matter experts on communication risks, media engagement, messaging and external positioning.

• Monitor media coverage, reputation trends and emerging issues, and identify risks and opportunities for external positioning at an early stage.

• Work closely with the second Media Relations Manager to ensure aligned external positioning, providing mutual support and cover during absences, peak periods and important communication events.

 

Your profile

• Typically 7–10 years of professional experience in Corporate Communications, Media Relations, Journalism, Public Affairs or PR, ideally with proven experience working with journalists in an international environment.

• Experience in financial communications, M&A, crisis communications or other reputation-sensitive topics.

• Knowledge of the Swiss media landscape and existing contacts with Swiss business, financial or trade media are a strong advantage.

• Experience in a publicly listed company, an international corporation, a communications consultancy or a media organization is a strong advantage.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Administration, Political Science or a related field.

• Strong media relations and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust with senior stakeholders and external partners.

• Very good understanding of Corporate Communications, corporate reputation and external positioning.

• Excellent writing, editing and compelling message-development skills.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to quickly understand complex corporate topics.

• Sound judgement when handling sensitive or confidential matters.

• Very good project management and organizational skills.

• Proactive, solution-oriented personality with the ability to work effectively in dynamic and demanding situations.

• Very good written and spoken German and English are required; bilingual candidates are particularly welcome.
