Position Overview
Join dormakaba’s Service team in Cairns, supporting customers across Far North Queensland. Working with experienced technicians and independently, you’ll service, repair, install and commission industrial shutters and roller doors, automatic sliding and swing doors, and manual door systems. You’ll also contribute to refurbishments and upgrades across commercial, industrial and residential sites while building your skills across a varied portfolio.
What you will do
- Service, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install industrial shutters and roller doors, automatic sliding and swing doors, and manual door systems.
- Complete commissioning, refurbishments, upgrades and quoted works, following approved procedures and working within your training and authorisations.
- Represent dormakaba professionally on site, keep customers updated, complete accurate service reports and job records, parts and your vehicle.
- Plan and manage your work schedule across Cairns and the wider region, with occasional travel to locations such as Weipa and Thursday Island. Join the on-call roster for approximately one week per month; regional travel may involve overnight stays.
What we require
- A practical mechanical mindset and confidence using hand and power tools in field-based work.
- The ability to work independently in the field and complete site- or customer-specific checks and clearances when required.
- A customer-focused approach, clear communication skills and confidence using a phone, tablet and basic job-recording systems.
- A strong safety mindset, including following site procedures, using PPE and maintaining a safe work area.
- Willingness to learn a varied product range and complete role- and site-specific training.
- Ability to travel across the Cairns region and take part in the on-call roster (approximately one week per month).
What we prefer
- Experience in field service, installation, maintenance or another hands-on technical role. Door-industry, glazing or adjacent trade experience is valued.
- White Card, EWP or forklift tickets, working-at-heights training, and relevant site clearances (such as police, ASIC, Working with Children or WPCG) are advantageous where applicable.
- Basic electrical or electronics knowledge and fault-finding experience are useful, but not essential.
- A willingness to complete any additional tickets or clearances required for assigned sites.
