Job Description
Workplace Solution Architect
Sofia
6/4/26

Position Overview

The Workplace Solution Architect defines how 16,000 dormakaba colleagues experience technology every day. From the moment a device is provisioned to the last update before someone leaves, you set the standards, the patterns, and the automation that make work feel frictionless.

You do not run a delivery team directly. Instead, you lead a fleet of vendors to execute on your architecture, partner with the PMO and Project Managers when initiatives need structured delivery and hold accountability for the outcomes and the budget those initiatives run on.

This is not about coordinating activity. It is about driving results. You are expected to remove obstacles, align teams, and ensure that what gets delivered actually improves the workplace experience.

The work is technical, opinionated, and visible.

What you will do

You set the architecture and experience standards for the entire employee computing environment across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and VDI. Updates that don't interrupt work, security that protects without friction, and devices that are productive from day one, wherever people are.

  • Endpoint lifecycle, Intune-first. Own how every endpoint is provisioned, secured, and governed: Autopilot provisioning, enrollment and lifecycle standards across physical and virtual devices, compliance policies, configuration profiles, security baselines, and integration with Entra ID and conditional access. Vendors execute; you define how Intune is used and keep it consistent across platforms and regions.
  • Microsoft 365 service layer. Architect how Intune, Entra ID, Teams, Exchange Online, and SharePoint work together, how identity and access are structured, and how the platform stays simple by retiring legacy tooling and duplication.
  • Software and application lifecycle. Define how software is packaged, deployed, patched, compatibility-tested, and retired across all platforms and both physical and virtual environments. Where multiple approaches exist, you standardise.
  • Workplace automation and AI enablement. Find where manual effort and friction live, and design scalable automation for onboarding, software delivery, compliance enforcement, and support. The measure is real outcomes: less effort, higher reliability, better employee experience.
  • Virtual desktop and remote workplace. Lead the VDI estate (Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, VMware) and decide on performance, scalability, and integration with endpoint and identity services, so users can't feel the difference between local and virtual.
  • Vendor landscape. Define what good looks like and make sure it lands. Coach vendors past ticket execution toward your architectural goals, hold them to outcomes rather than activity, and step in to clear blockers when delivery stalls.
  • Delivery accountability. Partner with the PMO when initiatives need formal structure, and stay accountable end to end for delivering on time, on budget, and to the architecture.

In your first 90 days
You have mapped the current state across endpoint platforms, Microsoft 365 services, and VDI. You understand where the biggest employee experience gaps are, where technical debt is highest, and which vendors are performing. You have started removing blockers and have at least one initiative moving forward.

By the end of year one
A clear and documented architecture exists for Intune, endpoint provisioning, software delivery, and Microsoft 365 integration. At least two legacy tools or fragmented workflows have been retired or replaced. Employee experience shows measurable improvement in targeted areas.

At 18 months
The vendor governance model is working effectively. Vendors deliver consistently against your standards, and initiatives land on time and on budget. The workplace architecture is clear, maintained, and easy for others to understand and build on.

What we require

  • Hands-on architecture experience across Microsoft 365, including Intune, Entra ID, Exchange Online, and Teams. You've designed and governed these environments in large, distributed organizations, not just operated them.
  • Deep endpoint management  expertise: Windows Autopilot, MDM and MAM strategy, and mixed estates across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and VDI.
  • A track record of introducing automation that improves outcomes, not just activity. You've delivered solutions that scale and take real operational overhead off the table.
  • Experience leading vendors and third-party delivery partners. You set direction, define standards, and hold suppliers accountable for outcomes while helping them get better.
  • ITIL 4 certification, and the judgment to apply it. You have strong working knowledge of the practices that anchor this role: IT Asset Management, Service Configuration Management, Change Enablement, and Supplier Management.
  • Across all of it, you communicate clearly in writing, your decisions and standards are easy to act on, and you own results.

What we prefer

  • SAFe certification, or experience working inside a SAFe delivery model
  • TOGAF or comparable enterprise architecture framework experience
  • VDI platforms such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Digital Employee Experience platforms such as Nexthink, ControlUp, or Lakeside SysTrack
  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-100 or MD-102
  • Experience applying Zero Trust principles in a workplace environment
